Red coffee maker

Very good value for the money for a basic coffee maker; i.e. no bells or whistles, such as a timer. But it met my criterion for a simple , RED appliance (kitchen accent color) and was promptly and safely delivered. Amazon came through once again!

My first one leaked on the counter often!

I got the PREVIOUS model of this red Hamilton Beach coffeemaker about 6 months ago. It leaked about half the time we used it, pouring over a cup of water down our counter on the floor. I thought it was OUR fault, that our counter wasn't level. I stupidly put up with it and daily placed a paper towels to collect the water. Moral: If your's leaks, return it right away. Our new replacement (from Target) doesn't leak a drop.Sometimes, after finishing all the coffee, we would want a cup or two more. We would just open the top, put in a little more coffee grinds and pour in a little water. This was the same procedure we had used for YEARS with our Mr. Coffee maker. DO NOT POUR WATER INTO THIS UNIT WHILE IT IS STILL VERY HOT! The owner's manual doesn't mention this anywhere. I looked. Recently I poured the water in, like usual, and the usual little puff of steam arose, the little "explosion" of water hitting those hot coils happened, and the unit poured all the water I had just put in it onto my kitchen floor. Yep, I had ruined it. Of course I tried to open the bottom to find the damage, but the company uses one proprietary screw of the four screws that hold the bottom on. I couldn't get that screw off. No big deal, because what was inside was clearly broken and pricey to repair. I doubt it was a stainless steel water tank in there. So, let the machine cool off for a minute before pouring in fresh water!Hamilton Beach needs to include this in their manual.Otherwise, a good coffee maker.

Lightweight, easy to use, doesn't dribble, and it's cheap!

First let me explain that this is not my every day coffeemaker. I have a one-cup-at-a-time coffeemaker for my husband and I to use daily. We like very different types of coffee, so there is no sharing a pot and both of us being happy.I needed a coffeemaker for when we have company. It's important that this doesn't dribble coffee on my friends or the counter when it's poured (as one I bought and returned did) or have so much steam coming out of the top after making the first pot and trying to make a second pot that it's a danger (as the one I bought and returned did as well). I didn't want the condensed steam to make a mess on the counter either-- as, you guessed it, one I bought and returned did as well. This coffeemaker does not dribble on the counter (or friends), try to burn me when making a second pot, and it doesn't leave a puddle of water on the counter.Sometimes I host or co-host events in which I need to drag a coffeemaker along, so a big plus would be to find one that was lightweight. I don't see how this could be more perfect without compromising quality.It needed to be simple to use without having to program it-- I don't want to pull it out in a clubhouse or office kitchen and have to waste time programming it before it will work. For this reason, I had originally searched for only coffeemakers that don't have a programmable option (I also thought that would save me money, but it didn't). But this worked out terrific-- I don't even have to set the time, just turn it on and it starts making coffee.And because I don't anticipate needing this often, probably 6-12 times a year, I didn't want to make a big investment. I paid $20, which was a lot less than I'd paid for one that dribbled and leaked and tried to burn me.If your needs are similar to mine, I don't know how you could find something better than this. I don't know how this will hold up if someone were to use it daily, but for my limited use, it's liable to last the rest of my life (and I'm not old!).
