Primula Classic Glass 8-Cup Coffee Press with Black Handle
Product Description
Classic design french press consists of a narrow cylindrical glass jug, equipped with a lid and a stainless plunger, which fits tightly in the cylinder glass beaker and which has a fine wire mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is brewed by placing the coffee and water together, leaving to brew for a few minutes, then depressing the plunger to trap the coffee grinds at the bottom of the glass jug. A French press equires coffee of a more coarse grind than that used for a drip brew coffee filter, such as produced by a burr mill grinder rather than the whirling blade variety, as a finer grind will seep through the press filter and into the coffee. Because the coffee grounds remain in direct contact with the brewing water and the grinds are filtered from the water via a mesh instead of a paper filter, coffee brewed with the French press captures more of the coffee's flavour and essential oils, which would become trapped in a traditional drip brew machine's paper filters. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee.

8 cups of fail
By Michael R. Baron
Wife bough the pot at the grocery store on sale for $11. The next day, the thing throws a crack while making a half-pot.I looked at it when I got home, and made the following observations:The "stainless" looks suspect. Might be chrome plated mild steel. The band that attaches to the top of the handle contacts the glass in 3 places, with enough space to fit a matchbook cover in about halfway around. I can't tell you how much force the band is exerting on the glass, except to say that it was apparently enough to cause it to crack. The poor workmanship extends to the feet, which do not sit evenly on the glass. I'm glad the unit cracked up top and not on the bottom.

Good
By S. Chauvin
I've had this for a few days. So far so good. By 8-cups they mean 8 4oz servings or coffee cups. I think. Holds 32oz, not 64oz which is the official 8 cup measurement. Got it on sale at Macy's with a coupon for $15. You need a scoop of ground coffe for each 4 oz of water.
