Makes a good cup of coffee. Caveat: DO NOT PUT EXCESSIVE GROUNDS IN BASKET! IT WILL LEAK. GO EASY! THANKS!

No frills. Decent and functional for the price; use for tea

I purchased this for the dedicated purpose of making tea. I just drop a single tea bag into the filter basket and run a full carafe of water through, yielding two full cups of tea. My chief complaint is that the water does not come out very hot. If you like your coffee (or tea) hot, I'd pass this one up. Like another reviewer has observed, I've found it to be a little noisy while it brews and intermittently while it's still on. It doesn't bother me. Some people may like the popping and hissing sounds. One observation about its design: the top of the water reservoir at the back of the maker is rather narrow. This makes it somewhat difficult to access for filling. You have to lift the lid all the way up and pour carefully at an awkward angle.One tip: The carafe, when half-full to full, dribbles as you pour from it. It took me awhile to discover that it's the top lid that interrupts the flow and causes the dribbling. So when pouring, lift the lid up.
