replacement carafes too expensive

The coffee maker works fine. But, you may as well buy a new coffee maker if the carafe breaks. You can't find replacements in any retail stores and buying on line makes the cost of a replacement out of sight. I'm just going throw out the Black and Decker and buy a Mr. Coffee. All retail outlets seem to have the replace carafes readily available. With a Mr. Coffee you won't have to wait 3 to 5 days for a cup of coffee!

We bought this when our old carafe broke. The description says it fits the B&D DCM100B. This is simply not true. Our model features the Sneak-a-Cup functionality. This means when a lever in the back is not pressed in, the coffee doesn't come out. This carafe does not press this lever in properly, which means coffee can get backed up possibly over the filter resulting in grounds in the coffee and a mess. We've had to tape the lever in, and we're not sure how permanent a solution this will be.So, be warned. If you have a Black and Decker DCM100B, avoid this replacement carafe.

Not for lefties

Bought this model GC3000B.Believe it or not, the replacement carafe only has the cup markings on one side, for righties. I hope they're making a killing on the penny they saved not printing on the other side.The markings are off compared with the original that came with the coffee maker. Fill to any line, say the 6-cup line, it makes about 20 percent less. So you have to overfill to compensate.It also feels lighter, like the glass is thinner.The thumb handle on the lid does not go as far back as the lid on the original carafe. So, when you pour, hot steam seeps from under the lid and hits your thumb. You'll learn not to keep your thumb on the back of the lid when pouring.Other than that, works and fits fine.Next time, though, I'll just buy a new coffee maker.
