Plastic lid

Ordered this percolator based upon the description as stainless steel design and a review that stated that there are no plastic parts that come into contact with the coffee. Well, the lid is plastic and the coffee percolates up and would constantly hit the lid. I wanted a percolator that has no plastic to contaminate the coffee - this is not it. Had to return it. (Pot seems sturdy and well made otherwise)

FAILED WITHIN 10 DAYS

WE WERE GIVEN A MELETTA 6 CUP COFFEE PURCOLATOR MODEL 40191 FOR CHRISTMAS IT STARTED A SECOND BREW CYCLE ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER IT COMPLETED THE FIRST BREW CYCLE. WE DID NOT HAVE A PROOF OF PURCHASE SO WE JUST CALLED THE 800 NUMBER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. CINDY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS GREAT SHE IS SENDING A PRE PAID SHIPPING DOCUMENT AND SHOULD HAVE A NEW ONE SOON. THE COFFEE MAKER MAKES A GREAT CUP OF COFFEE AND WE THINK IT LOOKS RATHER NEAT ON THE COUNTER INSTEAD OF A DRIP STYLE. WE JUST HOPE THE NEW ONE LASTS LONGER.

Great till it stopped working - again

I loved this thing when I got it. Made great HOT coffee and you could lift it off the base to pour over the sink or to serve at a table, so no drips and no worrying about short percolator cords. Very stylish looking also. 6 months later it is blowing fuses in every outlet that I use, including ones where nothing else is even on the same circuit. Great idea, but when I bought it , it was $70 and I expect it to work at least a little longer. Melitta not helpfulUpdate - finally got a replacement. Now it is shorting out and shocking me when I touch the on button.I am careful with my electrical things and don't let water come in contact with anything. Melitta won't replace because it is now out of warranty. They say there was nothing wrong with the old unit. They say the the model/series number is wrong and that they would not have sent out a unit of the same series I had before though they know I sent back the old unit. I didn't wave a wand and materialize a percolator.
